During the second week of the topic 'The Colours of the Rainbow', we focused on the other primary colour: blue.  We talked about the blue sky and blue sea on a beautiful day.  We collected blue objects from around the classroom and made a 'blue corner'.  We made a large collage with the blue pictures we cut from magazines.  We painted and printed in blue and learned a Maltese rhyme about the colour blue, 'Is-sema u l-bahar blu'.  You can find the lyrics on the 'Rhymes and Action songs' page.  To extend learning, we had an activity corresponding to the rhyme.

This game helps the children learn their colours and practise  many  important skills, such as sorting, visual discrimination, fine motor, eye-hand coordination and computer skills.

    This week we learned the letter 'b' (blu).  For a sensory experience, we made a collage.  We also used tactile letters  and wrote the letter on each other's back, in lentils and sand, with water on the table and on the interactive- whiteboard.

      

     During abacus this week we learned about weight :  heavy / light.  We also learned about the capacity of a big and a small bag / a big and a small container.  The children experiment and discover this all the time during sand and water play.

      

     We practised recognition, value and writing numbers 1 and 2.

      we also practised recognizing and telling the difference between numbers 1-10 and shapes.
