During the third week of the topic 'The Colours of the Rainbow' we focused on another primary colour: yellow.

   The children were asked to look for yellow objects from around the classroom and we grouped the objects together.  

      The children a big collage, this time using pictures of yellow objects. I hung the collage on our English Wall with the title: 'I see yellow.

      We learned a Maltese rhyme corresponding to the colour yellow and to extend learning we had a creative project corresponding to the rhyme. 

     We explored the colour further by painting and printing in yellow.  For more colour rhymes we are learning this month, please go the Rhymes and action songs page.  

  

      We learned that if we have the three primary colours, red, blue and yellow, we can get any other colour by mixing them together.  So we mixed red and yellow to make orange.

We mixed yellow and blue to make green.

We mixed blue and red to make indigo and purple and finished our rainbow.

              This week we learned the letter 'i' for (isfar). Below the children are choosing pictures which start with the letter 'i'.

            The children made an 'i' collage for a tactile experience.  This will help them remember the shape of the letter.

   The children practised writing the letter 'i'.

       During Abacus, we talked about 'big' numbers and used a number grid (1 - 100).  We learned more number songs which make learning how to count fun and help the children grasp the concept of 'large' and 'small' numbers.  You will find these songs on the 'Rhymes and Action Songs' page.
