On the third week of the Christmas topic we talked about how Christmas is celebrated in other countries. Some countries have a white Christmas while others celebrate Christmas in hot weather, probably on the beach.  We decorated the Christmas tree in our classroom and I introduced the letter and sound 's' (sigra). The children came up with more words with the same first sound; it is becoming easier for them to recognize and distinguish different sounds. This is an important skill which will later help them to become fluent readers. 

       This week during Maths we learned about money.  We use money to buy things.  Some things cost a little money but some things cost a lot of money.  The children had the opportunity to handle money and understand the difference.

         This week we made a reindeer using hand printing and painting.  Then we glued on pre-cut circles for the eyes and the nose. 

      We made Christmas cards for our parents in the shape of Father Christmas which we mad up with shapes.

      We decorated our crib and continued decorating our classroom and now it is looking very festive in preparation for our Christmas party. 

      The highlight of this week was undoubtedly the outing to Santa's Workshop at Popeye Village.  Below are the photos I managed to take and a few short videos so that you can see for yourselves what a fun filled day it was for all the children and how much they enjoyed it.
