This week we started a new topic, 'Easter' and of course we shall be doing a lot of Easter related activities.  We started with the Easter Story, put simply  so that the children would understand the meaning of Easter and why we celebrate it.

       We talked about Our Lady of Sorrows.  Mary is the mother of Jesus so when she saw Jesus suffering, she was suffering too and this made her very sad.  We made Holy pictures of Our Lady of Sorrows that the children will take home with them on the day of Her feast.  We made Easter cards for our parents and have started painting Easter bunnies to decorate our classroom.

      This week we learned the letter 'c' (cikkulata).

As usually I introduced the letter through a story.  now the children have learned to identify the letter sound in the beginning of some of the words are use in the story and letter choose pictures starting with the sound and even think up other words that start with the same sound.  This is called phonological awareness which is the most important skill for them to learn how to read.

      Everyday we revise all the letters we learned so far and play games to help us remember them.  I suggest you keep doing this with your children during the summer holidays.  This applies to everything else they have learned.

      During maths this week we learn about money.  The children learn to recognize the different coins and their value.

      We also did some revision handouts as next week we shall be starting the number 8.
